Mission
To train design executives in the most diverse fields of national and international life, and to develop fundamental and applied scientific research oriented towards solving the problems of humanity.
A public university committed to excellence, research and service to the nation since 1993.
The University of Goma is a public university institution born from the policy of expanding higher and university education advocated by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It draws its existence from Ministerial Decrees No. ESU/CABMIN/066/93 of 1993, No. ESU/227/1996 and No. ESU/002/1997, which established university centres and extensions across the DRC, including the North Kivu University Center in Goma.
By Order No. 055/MINSU/RS/2005 of 05/10/2005, the North Kivu University Center gained full autonomy and became the University of Goma — UNIGOM.
The university's direction is built around training, research, service and the development of society.
